small business month in Texas at the Austintatious Showroom

Did you know that May is Small Business Month in Texas? Austintatious started out as what we referred to as a lemonade stand, initially meaning taking a break from Corporate America, but it quickly became much more. As a small business, we love supporting small and local businesses in the Bee Cave area and beyond. We recently shared tips to turn your backyard into an oasis and thought this would be the perfect time to share some of our favorite small and local businesses that can help with just that.

Outdoor Cooking

Outdoor cooking in Texas is a must, and Faraday’s Kitchen Store, located next door to us, has been providing the Central Texas and Lake Travis areas with a unique kitchen supply experience since July 2005. They have a large assortment of BBQ tools, lump charcoal, wood pellets, wood chunks and chips, Green Mountain Pellet Grills, Big Green Eggs, and Outdoor Kitchens. You will be able to stock your outdoor kitchen with everything you need!

If you’ve been neglecting your outdoor kitchen, it might need a little TLC. Before you start grilling, Outdoor Kitchen Restoration LLC can breathe new life into it. Their specialized BBQ grill cleaning and repair services can revitalize your grill or even help you craft a stunning outdoor kitchen!

Outdoor Patio Shades

Not to toot our own horn, but we can help maximize and extend your outdoor living area potential with outdoor screens. Our screens can offer optimal climate control while keeping pests and bugs out. Our mesh selections block 70%-97% of harmful UV rays while providing shade and cooling on the most sweltering days. Reach out to learn all the benefits our outdoor patio shades offer.

Plants, Greenery, and More!

If you are looking to spruce up your outdoor space with greenery and plants, we highly recommend The Natural Gardener. They are incredibly knowledgeable and carry a high-quality selection of plants, vegetables, organic soil, and mulch. They are renowned for their commitment to Texas native plants and recognize their positive ecological impact as food sources and habitat restoration for native wildlife/fauna.  They are our go-to for natives and well-adapted varieties that will weather the Texas summer.

What’s summer without take-out?

And for the days you don’t feel like cooking, here are a few of our favorite take-out options you can order and enjoy in your backyard!

Austin Tea Exchange is our ‘go-to’ for lunch. They have a healthy selection and are locally owned and operated.

If you are craving a steak, we highly recommend J-5 in Spicewood! The owners, Jamie and Jen, started J-5 years ago. Their children (all whose names begin with a “J”—hence J-5) have all worked in the business or continue to work in it! It’s a family, locally grown and operated business with incredible food!

Verdes Mexican Parrilla is another excellent local restaurant. If you are in the mood for great Mexican food, this is one to try—it’s off Hamilton Pool Road, not too far off Hwy 71.

If you are looking for great food, drinks, and a fabulous patio, we love The League! It’s another awesome restaurant at the Galleria, so it’s fun to sit outside and walk the outdoor mall afterward. Our ALL-TIME favorite bartender is at The League; however, he is at the Lakeway location. Lonnie is our favorite. We highly recommend stopping in there and bellying up to the bar—he’s the BEST!

We love showing our support for small businesses beyond Small Business Month in Texas! Support local all summer long. If you are in need of patio shades or window treatments for your home, don’t hesitate to reach out and schedule a design consultation
